Community Police Liaison Committee

The crime rate in 22 Division is certainly going in the right direction. Continued efforts by the Toronto Police Services and the community will keep this trend going. We are the eyes and ears of the TPS and they appreciate your tips.

v     A surprising point was made at the last CPLC meeting. There is a noticeable spike in theft this time of year resulting from shoppers leaving valuables and gifts in full view of thieves in their cars. Lock them in your trunk along with cell phones, briefcases etc.

Your CPLC will be concentrating on the following areas for 2004:

Ř      “Max 40 Program” – new signage and increased police presence to increase awareness of drivers and pedestrians.

Ř      Graffiti Eradication - An ongoing project since 2000.  More work is needed.

Ř      Elder Abuse – An aging population is more susceptible to fraud.

Ř      Youth Violence – Working with the TPS and schools on this increasing problem.

Superintendent Jane Dick will be promoted to Staff Superintendent and will be relocating downtown in the new year.

Ed Hoey will be assuming the duties of Superintendent of 22 Division.
