The only crime statistics that increased last year in 22 Division were the robberies.

205 occurrences in 2002 increasing to 257 in 2003.

22 Division has been increasing their activity in and around our schools. This has led to a better rapport with the youth and therefore an increase in the reported incidents. These are more of the minor robberies - lunch money, clothing etc.

The new computer system is still being fine-tuned at 22 Division. When complete I will have a year end crime statistic report for the Kingsway along with auto theft statistics.

Luxury car thefts are continuing in Toronto. The easiest of these is the idling car in the driveway. These thefts sometimes include a remote control, house keys, second car keys, and office keys as a bonus. These rings seem to be targeting other neighborhoods for now but they will be back.

The Kingsway Cr. break and enter occurred just after new years and the police were on scene within 6 minutes of the alarm. Tracks were left in the snow as if the suspects were running from the scene. The owners were away and the call was sent immediately by the monitoring office.

Some monitors will allow you to suspend your call list when on vacation so that the call is immediate. Call lists are great to rectify false alarms however they do take time.

The Toronto Police Services have a great web site.
